Aneira Health, a new women’s health startup co-founded by renowned geneticist Dr. Cecilia Lindgren and Chris Wigley, former CEO of Genomics England, has launched with a mission to address systemic gaps in women’s healthcare using precision medicine and AI-driven technology.

The startup brings together senior leaders from across the UK healthcare system, including Dr. Nikita Kanani, former NHS England Primary Care Medical Director; Dr. Ingrid Granne, Oxford Professor and gynaecologist; and Matt Gillam, former product and tech lead at Just Eat and Sonder Bio.

Aneira Health addresses significant challenges in women’s healthcare, where one in 10 women have endometriosis but diagnosis takes an average of 10 years, and UK gynaecology waiting lists now exceed 630,000 women. According to the company, women are 50% more likely to suffer drug side effects due to male-biased research, and untreated women’s health issues cost the UK economy an estimated £11 billion annually.

“One-size-fits-all care doesn’t work,” said Dr. Cecilia Lindgren, Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer. “We’ve redesigned the diagnostic model with cutting-edge science and created a system that starts and finishes with the biology, lived reality and complexities of female health to offer evidence-based care personalised for every woman.”

The platform combines clinical care with advanced diagnostics, computational biology, and AI to deliver a whole-life care model spanning preventative, hormonal, life-stage, and chronic health. Services include clinical-grade lab diagnostics for early detection, personalized insights powered by medical history and genetic testing, and specialist care for conditions like menopause, endometriosis, and PCOS.

Aneira Health has already secured Care Quality Commission accreditation and partnered with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust. In May, the organizations announced a pioneering collaboration to deliver innovative women’s healthcare services to Trust staff, beginning with a cohort this spring.

“Women’s health is a workforce issue, a productivity issue, and a leadership issue,” said Dr. Ingrid Granne, Chief Medical Officer at Aneira Health. “By investing in the health of NHS staff, we’re not just supporting individuals—we’re strengthening the entire healthcare system from the inside out.”

The Guy’s and St Thomas’ partnership will provide Trust staff with AI-enabled healthcare designed to fit around their lives, aiming to improve access, experience, and health outcomes for healthcare workers. The Trust, with over 23,000 staff, is recognized as one of the UK’s largest and most respected NHS Foundation Trusts.

Named after the first baby born on the NHS, Aneira Health operates at the intersection of human care, computational biology, machine learning, and AI to transform women’s healthcare delivery across primary care, specialty women’s health, and chronic health management.
